Triploid talk without the waffle. Two real 3N strains, stupid-fast flowering windows, and a line-up of high-THC “shooting stars” that don’t mess about.
Shooting Stars & Triploid Truth
Every few years the scene throws up a new buzzword. First it was “Kush everything”, then it was cookie crosses, then autos that actually slapped. Right now, that word doing the rounds is triploid – “3N” genetics.
Problem is, the hype’s already louder than the facts. So here’s the Gorilla version: on our shelves today there are only two strains we’ll comfortably call true 3N triploids – Sherbet 3N Triploid and Glitterbomb 3N Triploid, both from Advanced Female Seeds.
What “3N Triploid” Actually Means
Most traditional cannabis lines are diploid – they carry two full sets of chromosomes (2N). A triploid plant carries three sets (3N). That extra genetic copy isn’t just a flex, it changes how the plant behaves.
- More vigour potential: extra cell machinery to push growth and resin production.
- Fast, hard finishes: Sherbet 3N and Glitterbomb 3N are both clocking in at under 7 weeks flowering (breeder-stated).
- Mad yield ceilings: we’re talking 800–900 g/m² on paper when dialled in (again, breeder-figures).
- Still feminized photoperiod: these aren’t autos or anything wild in that sense – just genetically stepped-up fems.
It’s not magic and it’s not GMO. It’s clever plant breeding and chromosome work – the same style of tech used in other crops to get seedless fruit, stronger stems and more predictable performance.
The Only Two True 3N Triploids on Gorilla Right Now
If you’re here for actual triploid action, this is the shortlist. Two strains. That’s it.
Not Triploid – But Definitely Not Normal Either
Around those two 3N mutants you’ve got a bunch of “how is that even legal” modern fems. They’re still diploid, but breeder-stated THC figures and bag appeal put them firmly in the next-gen high-potency camp.
High-THC Shooting Stars to Watch
Original Oreoz
Cookies-leaning dessert line that’s basically become the “how strong can you go” benchmark.
Pink Glitterbomb
Not 3N – just outrageously loud, sparkly and strong. The “pretty one” with a serious engine.
Honey Fried Bananas
Sticky dessert terps with bonkers breeder-stated potency. One for the “I collect extremes” crowd.
Elementz
Slick, modern hybrid with silly numbers and proper “future classic” written all over it.
Cherry Mac Muffin
Proper cherry bakery energy with breeder-stated 30% power. One of our quiet best-sellers.
Strawberry Gorilla Auto
Not 3N – just one of the nastiest autos in the catalogue for resin and terps.
*All THC values above are breeder-stated and should be treated as indicative only.
Why Triploids Matter for Collectors (Even If You Never Germ a Seed)
From a collector point of view, triploid lines are early-wave tech. The first verified 3N releases tend to be the ones people look back on when the format becomes normal.
- Scarcity: fewer packs floating around, especially in the UK/EU market.
- Tech milestone: part of that first wave of 3N cannabis drops, not the tenth remix.
- Story value: “this is one of the first real 3N lines we got in 2025” lands different to “another cookie cross”.
Whether you’re collecting art, vinyl or genetics, being there early on a genuine shift usually pays off. Triploids look like one of those shifts.
Gorilla’s Take
You’re going to see the word “triploid” slapped on all sorts of packs over the next couple of years. Some will be legit, some will be marketing. Our policy’s simple:
- If we call it 3N, it’s because the breeder data and genetics actually back that up.
- If it’s “just” a monstrous high-THC diploid, we’ll say that instead of cosplaying the science.
Right now, that means Sherbet 3N Triploid and Glitterbomb 3N Triploid wear the crown, surrounded by a ring of diploid heavy-hitters that already feel like future classics.
